Pumo-Ri one of the popular and most busy Himalayan expedition peak in Nepal. It is 7,161m. high above sea. Situated 8 km. west of Mt. Everest at Khumbu region between Tibet and Nepal. In the local Sherpa language PUMO means daughter and Ri means mountain.
Pumori was successfully summit on 17th May 1962 by Ernst Forrer, Ueli Hurlimann and Gerhard Lenser the Swiss / German expedition team. There is a different route climb to summit 80 degrees ice and snow. Since 1962 several international teams have climbed the peak.
From Kathmandu there are two ways to reach Pumo-Ri base camp.
1. Direct flight from Kathmandu to base camp by helicopter.
2. Kathmandu to Lukla by flight, 7 days trek to the base camp.
For this expedition, age doesn’t make any difference, if you are physically fit and healthy, between 18 to 70 years. During the expedition, if someone is seriously injured or sick, the only option is to be rescued by a Helicopter. The rescue is quite expensive, everyone needs to buy travel insurance from their own country. If not, we will help. You can buy such insurance policies in Kathmandu too.
