24 days Kanchanjunga North & South base camp

Kanchanjunga 8,586m. third highest Himalayan peak of the world, situated at north-east Nepal, border with Sikkim (India) and Tibet. For this trek drive to Taplejung it takes a long time. Better direct or connect flights from Kathmandu to Taplejung. Trek starts from Taplejung Suketar airport. Trek through many farms and rural villages of Rai, Limbu and Sherpa. Explore both north and south base camps. Trek will start from Taplejung, make a one circuit and end at Taplejung airport. During this trek you can see very close and excellent views of Kanchenjunga, Jannu, Khambachen, Yalung Kang, Makalu and other many border Himalayan peaks.

The age doesn’t make any difference for this short trek, from 17 to 70 years, anyone can join this trip if you are physically fit and healthy. There are some tea houses on this trekking route but they are not comfortable for trekkers. For this trek, we provide two man sharing double tent or single supplement tent with double mattress, dining tent with table and stools, kitchen tent with kitchen utensils, toilet tent, shower tent, an experience trekking guide, cook, Kitchen boys, Sherpa helper and porters, meals (breakfast + lunch + dinner) and hot drinks. We suggest every trekker bring your own sleeping bag, because of your size.


We will inform you all the details about this trek, before starting from Kathmandu. Trekking guide will inform you all the details each day’s trekking route and campsite at Kanchenjunga region.

Tips for staffs.

Daily Itinerary:

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport, our representative will welcome you with flowers, drive to the stars hotel as your booking, and welcome drinks at the reception check in room. Dinner at your hotel’s restaurant our tour manager will brief you about trekking and other necessary information.

After lunch your guide will pick you up at the hotel. Drive to airport, afternoon flight to Biratnagar. Hotel’s vehicle waiting for you at Biratnagar, short drive to hotel, welcome drinks at reception check in room, Nepali set dinner at same hotel’s restaurant.

After breakfast at hotel, drive to airport, morning flight for Taplejung Suretar, meet with trekking staff. Lunch at Suketar airport, start your first day trek through small villages and field overnight tented camp at Phurumba village. Good campsite but little problem with the local children.    2 to 3 hours trek.

After breakfast, easy trek to Tawa for lunch, trek continues to Chhiruwa for overnight tented camp at a nice campsite at the bank of Tamur river far from the village.    5 to 6 hours trek.

After breakfast, trek along Tamor river, cross bridge at Tapethok, stop for lunch on the way, trek continues cross the suspension bridge at Tapur river overnight tented camp at Sekarthum, beautiful campsite far from village. 5 to 6 hours trek.

After breakfast, cross the bridge twice, gradually climb to Amji Lhasa for lunch and camp together. Because of the camp site, Amji Lhasa there are only two houses with beautiful campsites and views.    3 to 4 hours trek.

After breakfast, easy trek through bamboo bush and forest lunch on the way, trek continues overnight tented camp at Gyabla village, beautiful campsite. Sometimes there are problems with local children.    5 to 6 hours trek.

After breakfast, easy trek through the forest, stop for lunch at Phale village, trek continues to Gunsa village for overnight tented camp. Beautiful campsite and really nice views. Gunsa is a big village in this region.   5 to 6 hours trek.

Now you are above 3,400m. all the team members and staff are tired after long days of trek, all you need is rest for high acclimatization. After breakfast visit the monastery and village. Day time, take a hot shower and just relax, save your energy for base camp.

After breakfast, trek to Rambuk Kharka for lunch, gradually climb, trek through a landslide to Khambachen for overnight camp. Very beautiful campsite with a giant view of Jannu (Kumbakarna) 6 to 7 hours trek.

Now you are above 4,000m. you will feel very dry and thin air, after breakfast trek slowly lunch on the way, overnight tented camp at Lhonak. Beautiful campsite with the view of Kanchenjunga and Jannu.   5 to 6 hours trek.

After breakfast, explore to Pang pema Kanchenjunga north base camp and back to camp for lunch. You can see very close a giant view of Kanchenjunga and Jannu.

After breakfast, same way back to Khambachen for lunch, trek continues to Gunsa village for overnight tented camp.    6 to 7 hours trek

After breakfast, easy trek for about half an hour, gradually climb through rhododendron forest to Mirgin la pass for lunch, after lunch cross Mirgin la and sele la (4,480) pass to Mani buck for overnight camp.    6 to 7 hours trek.

After breakfast, an easy trek through grassy land across Sinon la (4,646m.) Today you will get pack lunch (picnic) with hot tea and juice, pack lunch near a small lake, from there you can see very clear view of Kanchenjunga west, Khambachen, Yalung khang, Nepal peak, Kirat chuli and Sikkim Himalayan border peaks. After lunch descent to Tseram, a beautiful campsite for overnight. At Tseram there are some tea houses from Yamphudin people.    6 to 7 hours trek.

After breakfast, take a pack lunch (picnic) explore to Yalung glacier for the view, after pack lunch and panorama views of Kanchenjunga south, back to Tseram. If you don’t like to explore, you can take a hot shower and just relax at camp.

After breakfast, trek through rhododendron and pine forest lunch stop at Anda phedi, after lunch cross the bridge climb up to Ramite Bhanjyang through a landslide, descend to Amji Khola for overnight camp. Not a good campsite but no choice.    8 to 9 hours trek log day.

After breakfast, trek to Dupi danda, descend to Yaphudin village 1,692m. for lunch, after lunch easy trek to Mamangkhe village for overnight tented camp.    6 to 7 hours trek.

After breakfast, descend to Khasewa river climb to Phurumba for lunch, trek continues to Kande Bhanjyang for overnight tented camp. Good campsite at the top of the hill with beautiful views.    6 to 7 hours trek.

After breakfast, descend to Sikheba Khola, climb up for lunch and the trek continues to Lali Kharka, a beautiful campsite for overnight.   6 to 7 hours trek.

After breakfast, an easy trek to Suketar Taplejung airport for lunch and camp together. Campsite near the airport looks beautiful with views.Today you made one circle. 3 to 4 hours trek.

After dinner Tips for trekking staff, trek successful gathering party with staff and team members. Tomorrow early morning the crew will drive back to Kathmandu.  Complete the trek.

After breakfast, morning flight Taplejung to Biratnagar with your guide, lunch at Biratnagar airport afternoon flight to Kathmanu. At Kathmandu Vehicle waiting for you, drive to hotel, welcome drinks at reception check in room, dinner as your choice at any restaurant.

After breakfast, the city guide will pick you up at the hotel, a short drive to Swyambhu nath, which is the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world, build 2,500 years ago. Visit around the stupa, offering the butter lamps, from Swayambhu you can see a very clear view of Kathmandu valley. Drive to Bhoudha, the biggest Buddhist stupa in the world, built in the late 15th or early 16th century. Around Bhouda there are several Buddhist monasteries. Visit around the stupa and different monasteries. After lunch drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square for sightseeing, from Durbar square walk to Thamel tourist market sightseeing. Evening our representative will take you for a farewell Nepali typical dinner with a culture program. After dinner back to the hotel.

After breakfast or lunch, our representative will drive three hours before your flight time to the airport flight back to your destination.   Complete the trip.
