Dhaulagiri 8.167m. is the 7th highest Himalayan peak in the world. It Is situated between the Myagdi river and Kali Gandaki valley in west Nepal. There are two main base camps for Dhaulagiri expedition, east from Kaligandaki valley and west from Myagdi river valley. From both sides there are several routes to Dhaulagiri summit.
It was first climbed on 13th May 1960 by a Swiss / Austrian / Nepali joint expedition, led by Max Eiselin, successful ascent by Kurt Diemberger, Peter Diener, Ernst Forrer, Albin Schelbert, Nima Dorje Sherpa, Nawang Dorje Sherpa.
As per our itinerary, drive until motor road available, trek start through several villages to Dhaulagiri west base camp. After the summit, trek through a hidden valley, cross two high passes, and descend to Kaligandaki valley. Flight out from Jomsom / Pokhara / Kathmandu. If you get a limited time, you can take a direct helicopter flight to the base camp which costs more.
For this expedition, the age doesn’t make any difference, if you are physically fit and healthy, between 18 to 70 years. During the expedition, if someone is seriously injured or sick, the only option is to be rescued by a Helicopter. The rescue is quite expensive, everyone needs to buy travel insurance from their own country. If not, we will help. You can buy such insurance policies in Kathmandu too.

For this expedition, you can make your own group or you can join with other groups. Before your arrival at Kathmandu all the necessary climbing permit, lesion officer, base camp staff, equipment and foods, climbing Sherpas, transportation and other requirements will be ready in time.

Tent accommodation for trek, meals (breakfast – lunch – dinner) with hot drinks during the expedition period, human or animal porters, base camp staff cook, kitchen boys, Climbing guide, climbing Sherpas (porters), one person one tent accommodation with double mattresses at base camp, dining tent with Table, stools and gas heater, Kitchen tent with kitchen utensils, store tent, shower tent, toilet tent, solar panel with battery for recharge electric device, Satellite phone sets for communication etc
Note: High altitude tents, climbing gears, climbing equipment for Sherpa, high altitude foods, Oxygen bottles, HP gas, walkie-talkie sets etc. expedition team should bring or buy at Kathmandu.
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport, our representative will welcome you with flowers, drive to the star hotel as your booking, and welcome drinks at the reception check in room. Dinner at your hotel’s restaurant our tour manager will brief you about the expedition and other necessary information.
Check the expedition’s equipment, shopping for other necessary items for you, just relax at the same hotel or visit as you like.
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at the hotel, 298 km. drive from Kathmandu to Darbang with expedition’s staff via Pokhara by private vehicle. First night tented camp at Dharbang. 8 to 9 hours drive.
After breakfast, start your first day trek, cross the bridge gradually climb to Dharapani for lunch, an easy trek to Sibang school for overnight camp. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, an easy trek through fields, descends to Dara for lunch, trek continues overnight camp at Muri School. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, descend to juga pani for lunch, trek through rock cliff trail, overnight camp at Baghara village. 5 to 6 hours trek.
Baghara is the last village to Dhaulagiri base camp, after breakfast trek through forest, cross several small rivers and landslides, lunch stop at Lapche kharka, overnight camp at Dhoban. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, trek through forest lunch stop at Chauri Bhan, gradually climb to Italy base camp. Good campsite with beautiful views. 5 to 6 hours trek.
Rest for high acclimatization, now you are above 3,500m. you will fill very dry and thin air. Day time take a hot shower, just relax at the camp.
After breakfast, trek through a landslide, cross the Myagdi river several times, sometimes without a bridge. Pack lunch with hot tea and juice overnight camp at Glacier. 6 to7 hours trek.
After breakfast, trek through the glacier. There is no fixed trail at the glacier, always changed. Pack lunch on the way, overnight camp at Dhaulagiri base camp. 6 to 7 hours trek.
Staff will establish the base camp, set up all the tents at base camp.
As a local tradition, worship before you climb the Dhaulagiri. A Lama will offer a puja ceremony and hang the prayer flags at the base camp for the peace, long life and success of the expedition.
Check and fix your climbing equipment and make it ready to climb for the next days.
After four-night well acclimatize at the base camp, from day15 to 42, during 28 days period climb from base to summit and back to base camp will be enough time, if not you can extend the time for summit.
Packing your all-personal equipment, Staff will clean the base camp and collect all the garbage for disposal. Complete the expedition.
After breakfast, gradually climb through a ridge to French pass (5,360m.) From the French pass, you can see a spectacular view of Dhaulagiri and glacier. Pack lunch at pass if not windy, after the French pass an easy but long trek to Hidden valley for overnight camp. 7 to 8 hours trek.
After breakfast, ascend to Dhampus pass (5,258m.) from pass you can see unbelievable a spectacular view of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Dhampus, Nilgiri, Tilicho, Annapurna range, Tibet border peaks and Kaligandaki valley. After packed lunch steep descends to Yak kharka for overnight camp. 6 to 7 hours trek.
After breakfast, steep descent to Marpha village for lunch. 2 to 3 hours trek. After lunch drive to Jomsom for overnight hotel accommodation.
After dinner, Tips for the staff, celebrate expedition success gathering party with team members and staff.
After breakfast at hotel, morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. During the 28 minutes flight you can see a spectacular view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna range, Kali Gandaki valley and Pokhara city. Lunch at Pokhara, afternoon flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. At Kathmandu airport our representative is waiting for you, drive to the hotel, welcome drinks at the reception check in room. Evening our representative will take you for a farewell Nepali typical dinner with culture program. After dinner, back to the hotel.
After breakfast or lunch, our representative will drive three hours before your flight schedule to the airport, flight back to your destination. Complete the trip.
