Jannu (Kumbakarna) a beautiful Himalayan peak 7,710m. which is the 32nd highest Himalayan peak in the world. Situated at east, Taplejung district in Nepal. Kanchenjunga, Yalung Khang and Khambachen are the neighbouring peaks.
It was first climbed on 27th April 1962 by a team led by the French alpinist Lionel Terray. The first summiteers are Rene Desmaison, Paul Keller, Robert Paragot and Gyalzen Mitchung Sherpa.
As per our itinerary, to reach the base camp, flight or drive from Kathmandu to Taplejung, trek through Taplejung Phurumba, Chiruwa, Sekarthum, Gyapla, Gunsa village. After Gunsa village, take the right-hand side route to Jannu base camp. The base camp is really beautiful side with running water at the grassland.
For this expedition, age doesn’t make any difference, if you are physically fit and healthy, between 18 to 70 years. During the expedition, if someone is seriously injured or sick, the only option is to be rescued by a Helicopter. The rescue is quite expensive, everyone needs to buy travel insurance from their own country. If not, we will help. You can buy such insurance policies in Kathmandu too.

For this expedition, you can make your own group or you can join with other groups. Before your arrival at Kathmandu all the necessary climbing permit, lesion officer, base camp staff, equipment and foods, climbing Sherpas, transportation and other requirements will be ready in time.

We provide services for, expedition route permit and lesion officer, custom clearance at airport for the expedition equipment, ground transportation, domestic flight, personal life and medical insurance for the lesion officer, Nepalese staff and porters, rescue flight if necessary, hotel reservation etc.
Tent accommodation, meals (breakfast – lunch – dinner) with hot drinks. human or animal porters, base camp staff cook, kitchen boys, climbing guide, climbing Sherpas (porters), one person one tent accommodation with double mattresses at base camp, dining tent with Table, stools and gas heater, Kitchen tent with kitchen utensils, store tent, shower tent, toilet tent, solar panel with battery for recharge electric device, Satellite phone sets for communication etc.

Note: High altitude tents, climbing gears, climbing equipment for Sherpa, high altitude foods, Oxygen bottles, HP gas, walkie-talkie sets etc. expedition team should bring or buy at Kathmandu.
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport, our representative will welcome you with flowers, drive to the star hotel as your booking, and welcome drinks at the reception check in room. Dinner at your hotel’s restaurant. Our tour manager will brief you about the expedition and other necessary information.
Check the expedition’s equipment, shopping other necessary items what you need, just relax at same hotel or visit as you like.
After lunch your guide will pick you up at the hotel. Drive to airport, afternoon flight to Biratnagar. Hotel’s vehicle is waiting for you at Biratnagar, a short drive to the hotel, welcome drinks at the reception check in room, Nepali set dinner at same hotel’s restaurant.
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to the airport, morning flight for Taplejung Suretar, meet with expedition staff. Lunch at Suketar airport, start your first day trek through small villages and field overnight camp at Phurumba village. Good campsite but little problem with the local children. 2 to 3 hours trek
After breakfast, an easy trek to Tawa for lunch, trek continues to Chhiruwa for overnight campsite at the bank of Tamur river far from the village. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, trek along the Tamor river, cross bridge at Tapethok, stop for lunch on the way, trek continues to cross the suspension bridge at Tapur river overnight camp at Sekarthum, beautiful campsite far from village. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, cross the bridge twice, gradually climb to Amji Lhasa for lunch and camp together because of the camp site. Amji Lhasa is just two houses with a beautiful campsite and views. 3 to 4 hours trek.
After breakfast, an easy trek through bamboo bush and forest lunch on the way, trek continues overnight camp at Gyabla village, beautiful campsite. Sometimes problems with local children. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, an easy trek through the forest, stop for lunch at Phale village, trek continues to Gunsa village for overnight tented camp. Beautiful campsite and really nice views. Gunsa is a big village in this region. 5 to 6 hours trek.
Now you are above 3,400m. all the team members and staff are tired after a long days trek, all you need rest for high acclimatization.After breakfast, visit the monastery and village. Day time, take a hot shower and just relax, save your energy for base camp.
After breakfast, gradually climb to Jannu base camp, a really nice campsite with grassy land and running water. 4 to 5 hours trek.
Sherpa and base camp staff will establish the base camp, set up all the tents at the base camp.
As a local Buddhist tradition, worship before you climbing the Jannu. A local Lama will offer a puja ceremony and hang the prayer flags at the base camp for the peace, long life and success of the expedition.
Check and fix your climbing equipment to make it ready to climb for the next days.
After four-night well acclimatize at base camp, from day 15 to 35, during 21 days period climbing from base to summit and back to base camp will be enough time, if not you can extend the time for summit. Staff will clean the base camp, collect all the garbage for disposal. Complete the expedition.
After breakfast packing all your equipment, staff will clean the base camp and collect the garbage for disposal, after lunch descend to Gunsa village for overnight night camp. 2 to 3 hours trek.
There is another option to return back from Kanchanjunga south trekking route back to Taplejung Suketar airport.
After breakfast, trek to Gyapla for lunch, trek continues to Amji Lhasa for overnight camp. 6 to 7 hours trek.
After breakfast, descend to Sekarthum for lunch. Trek continues to Chhiruwa for overnight camp. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, the same way back to Taplejung Suketar airport, lunch on the way. It will be a long day. 7 to 8 hours trek.
After breakfast, morning flight from Taplejung to Biratnagar with your guide, lunch at the airport afternoon flight to Kathmandu. At Kathmandu airport our representative is waiting for you, drive to the hotel, welcome drinks at the reception check in room.
Free day at Kathmandu for sightseeing or as you like. Evening our representative take you for a farewell Nepali typical dinner with culture program. After dinner, back to the hotel.
After breakfast or lunch, our representative will drive three hours before your flight schedule to the airport and back to your destination. Complete the trip.
