Lhotse South face expedition:

Lhotse 8,516m. is the 4th highest Himalayan peak in the world. It is situated northeast of the Khumbu region in Nepal, as a border pillar between Nepal and Tibet (autonomous region of China) Mt. Everest, Lhotse Shar and Nuptse are the neighbouring peaks of Lhotse. First ascent on 18th May 1956 by Swiss expedition Fritz Luchsinger and Ernst Reiss from the normal route.

The normal route base camp and climbing route through Khumbu icefall to camp III, is the same as Everest. After camp III, take the right hand side for the Lhotse summit. Lhotse south face route is completely different, more difficult and technique at rock climb. With my experience, once I climbed from Lhotse south face but did not succeed. There is no place to set up the tents. You have to dig ice and snow to set up tents. The south face ridge is very steep at rock.

From Kathmandu there are two ways to reach the Lhotse south face base camp.

1. Direct flight from Kathmandu to base camp by helicopter.

2. Kathmandu to Lukla by flight, 7 days trek to the base camp.

For this expedition, the age doesn’t make any difference, if you are physically fit and healthy, between 18 to 60 years. During the expedition,if someone is seriously injured or sick, the only option is to be rescued by a Helicopter. The rescue is quite expensive,

everyone needs to buy travel insurance from their own country. If not, we will help. You can buy such insurance policies in Kathmandu too.

We believe that proper preparation, training, well acclimatization, hygienic food and experienced Sherpa climbers make your expedition successful.
