Dear all trekkers,
Welcome, for moderate teahouse (lodging) trek at Kanchanjunga north /south base camp.

This is an adventure trek, one of the long duration tea house (lodging) trek above 5,000m. elevation at east Nepal. Kanchanjunga Himalayan region. Kanchanjunga (alt. 8,586m.) 3rd highest Himalayan peak in the world. During this trek you have to cross several high passes above 4,000m. to reach from Kanchanjunga north to south base camp. 

During this trek, you will visit both north and south base camp. This trek will start from Taplejung / Sekarthum ending at Yapphudin. 

Himalayan views: During the trek you will see giant view of Kanchanjung north and south side. The Himalaya and other views always good from high elevation. From north base camp you can see Kumbakarna (Jannu) from south base camp you can see below 8,000m. peaks Khambachen, Yalung, Kirat chuli, Nepal peak and India (Sikkim) border peaks as a pillar. 

Trekking season: For this trek March to May is the best time. At the Himalayan region after Tashi Gyapla village you can see colourful rhododendrons and other wild flowers in full bloom, clear views of the Himalaya and mountains. Spring season brings the happiness for all the local farmers and trekkers at the country side. 

Monsoon (summer) season June to August heavily raining, landslide, high label of rivers may block the trekking trails. Not good visibility to see the Himalaya and mountains. 

Between September to November good time trekking at this region. You can see spectacular views of Himalaya and mountains. At this region very clear weather and temperature not so cold. 

Winter season December – February it is not possible trek at this elevation passes and base camp. In winter season all the high passes trekking trails will be closed, heavy snow fall and cold temperature below zero. Recent years global warming changes the Himalayan climate and environment, at the Himalayan region any time can change the weather.  

Trekking equipment: For this high elevation trek, you need warm equipment and sleeping bag. If you don’t have such, you can hire or buy at Kathmandu as your size. 

Accommodation:There are several tea houses and lodges available for daily meals and accommodation at both north and south side base camp.  some are good some not but no choice, something is better than nothing.

Daily meals: Main Nepali dish Dal Bhat Tarkari (boiled rice, vegetable, lentil with hot pickle) you will get in every tea houses. Each restaurant, you will get vegetarian or non veg. dishes, different kinds of breakfast set, lunch and dinner as chapati, Tibetan breads, momos, Stew, pasta, noodles, pizza, several items of fresh vegetables, potatoes, meats, eggs, soups, hot and cold drinks, which you can check at menu.

Your guide will always check before your order what is fresh and available.
You can ask Himalayan organic vegetables from (green house) if available. At Kanchanjunga  region, Sherpa people don’t kill any animals for meat. They buy chicken, buffalo and mutton from Taplejung or Limbu villages. Sometime you can get Yak meats but really expensive.

We recommend this trek for the real trekkers who have idea about Alp and Himalaya. For this trek you need physically fit and healthy.
