Dear all trekkers,
Welcome, for moderate lodging trek at Kanchanjunga north /south base camp.

This is one of the long duration lodging trek above 5,000m. elevation at east Nepal. Kanchanjunga Himalayan region. Kanchanjunga (alt. 8,586m.) 3rd highest Himalayan peak in the world. During this trek you have to cross several high passes above 4,000m. to reach from Kanchanjunga north to south base camp. 

During this trek, you will visit both north and south base camp. This trek will start from Taplejung / Sekarthum ending at Yapphudin. 

Himalayan views: During the trek you will see giant view of Kanchanjung north and south side. The Himalaya and other views always good from high elevation. From north base camp you can see Kumbakarna (Jannu) from south base camp you can see below 8,000m. peaks Khambachen, Yalung, Kirat chuli, Nepal peak and India (Sikkim) border peaks as a pillar. 

Trekking season: For this trek March to May is the best time. At the Himalayan region after Tashi Gyapla village you can see colourful rhododendrons and other wild flowers in full bloom, clear views of the Himalaya and mountains. Spring season brings the happiness for all the local farmers and trekkers at the country side. 

Monsoon (summer) season June to August heavily raining, landslide, high label of rivers may block the trekking trails. Not good visibility to see the Himalaya and mountains. 

Between September to November good time trekking at this region. You can see spectacular views of Himalaya and mountains. At this region very clear weather and temperature not so cold. 

Winter season December – February it is not possible trek at this elevation passes and base camp. In winter season all the high passes trekking trails will be closed, heavy snow fall and cold temperature below zero. Recent years global warming changes the Himalayan climate and environment, at the Himalayan region any time can change the weather.  

Trekking equipment: For this high elevation trek, you need warm equipment and sleeping bag. If you don’t have such, you can hire or buy at Kathmandu as your size. 

Accommodation:There are several tea houses and lodges available for daily meals and accommodation at both north and south side base camp.  some are good some not but no choice, something is better than nothing.

Daily meals: Main Nepali dish Dal Bhat Tarkari (boiled rice, vegetable, lentil with hot pickle) you will get in every tea houses. Each restaurant, you will get vegetarian or non veg. dishes, different kinds of breakfast set, lunch and dinner as chapati, Tibetan breads, momos, Stew, pasta, noodles, pizza, several items of fresh vegetables, potatoes, meats, eggs, soups, hot and cold drinks, which you can check at menu.

Your guide will always check before your order what is fresh and available.
You can ask Himalayan organic vegetables from (green house) if available. At Kanchanjunga  region, Sherpa people don’t kill any animals for meat. They buy chicken, buffalo and mutton from Taplejung or Limbu villages. Sometime you can get Yak meats but really expensive.

We will inform you all the details about this trekking before start from Kathmandu. During the trekking period your trekking guide he / she will inform and suggest you, each day’s activity and planning in details. 

We recommend this trek for those who are physically fit and healthy for trek at Himalayan region, every one man and woman age between 18 to 70 years old can join this trek without any hesitate.

Daily Itinerary:

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport, our representative will welcome you with flowers, drive to stars hotel as your booking, welcome drinks at reception check in room. Dinner at your hotel’s restaurant our tour manager will brief you about trekking and other necessary information.

After lunch your guide will pick you up at hotel. Drive to airport, afternoon flight to Biratnagar. Hotel’s vehicle waiting for you at Biratnagar, short drive to hotel, welcome drinks at reception check in room, Nepali set dinner at same hotel’s restaurant.

After breakfast at hotel, drive to airport, morning flight for Taplejung Suretar, meet with porters. Lunch at Suketar airport, drive by privet local jeep to Sekarthum. The motor road condition sometime really danger, it takes about 4 to 5 hours drive. Overnight lodging at Sekarthum.

From today your trek will first day you need to trek slowly.  After breakfast, cross the bridge twice, gradually climb to Amji Lhasa for lunch and overnight stay together because of accommodation, at Amji Lhasa there is just two houses with beautiful views.  4 to 5 hours trek.

After breakfast, easy trek through bamboo bushes and rhododendrons forest lunch on the way, trek continues overnight lodging at Gyabla village.  5 to 6 hours trek.

After breakfast, easy trek through the forest, stop for lunch at Phale village, trek continues to Gunsa village for overnight lodging accommodation. Gunsa is a big village of Sherpa community at this region. There are several lodges with restaurant at Gunsa. 5 to 6 hours trek.

Now you are above 3,400m. all the team members and staff are tired after long days trek, all you need rest for high acclimatization. After breakfast visit the monastery and village. Day time take hot shower and just relax, save your energy for base camp.  

After breakfast, trek to Rambuk Kharka for lunch, gradually climb, trek through a landslide to Khambachen for overnight stop, there is few lodges. Very beautiful camp site with giant view of Jannu (Kumbakarna) 6 to 7 hours trek. 

Now you are above 4,000m. you will feel very dry and thin air, after breakfast trek slowly pack lunch lunch on the way, overnight lodging at Lhonak. At Lonak only one lodge available also not comfortable for trekkers, but the Himalayan views are really beautiful.  5 to 6 hours trek. 

After breakfast, explore to Pang pema Kanchenjunga north base camp and back to Lonak for lunch. You can see very close a giant view of Kanchenjunga and Jannu. 

After breakfast, same way back to Khambachen for lunch, trek continues to Gunsa village for overnight accommodation.  6 to 7 hours trek.

After breakfast, take pack lunch easy trek about half hours, gradually climb through rhododendrons forest to Mirgin la pass. From pass you can see beautiful view of valley which you came through. After small pass easy trek about two hours, you will reach at Mani buck for overnight accommodation. There is only two small tea houses. New name Seale la base camp and old name Mani buck is same place.  5 to 6 hours trek.

After breakfast take pack lunch with enough drinks, easy trek through grassy land cross Sinon la (4,646m.)  from there you can see very clear view of Kanchanjunga west, Khambachen, Yalung khang, Nepal peak, Kirat chuli and Sikkim Himalayan border peaks. After pack lunch descent to Tseram for overnight accommodation. There is several lodges with restaurant for the trekkers.         6 to 7 hours trek.

Trek to Tseram for south base camp, which is not so far. Lunch and overnight stay together at Tseram, there is two lodges for night accommodation and meals, which are not comfortable but no choice. 2 to 3 hours trek.

After breakfast, take a pack lunch (picnic) with enough drinks, explore to Yalung glacier for the view. Khoktang is the best place for views it is not necessary trek to Kanchanjunga base camp. After panoramic views back to Tseram. If you don’t like this lodge, you can back to Ramjer. 

Recent year there is a new trekking route after Ramjer, which is more beautiful than the old route. Lunch stop on the way there is one tea house, trek continues to Naya Joreane for overnight accommodation, which is new and comfortable.  6 to 7 hours trek.

After breakfast, descend to Amji khola trek to Dupi danda, descend to Yaphudin Gurung village about 4 to 5 hours trek.  After lunch 4 to5 drive by jeep to Birtamor. Driving hours, it up to the road motor condition.         Complete the trek.

Drive by day or night bus to Kathmandu. It is up to your arrival time at Birtamor Bazar. From Kathmandu bus park drive to your hotel and check in. 

After breakfast, the city guide will pick you up at hotel for sightseeing at world heritage list by UNESCO at different places. Sightseeing tours beginning short drive to Swyambhu nath stupa, which is oldest Buddhist stupa in the world, build 2,000 years ago. Visit around the stupa, offering the butter lamps for your good Karma and future for all.  From Swyambhu you can see very clear view of Kathmandu valley. Drive to Bhoudha, which is biggest Buddhist stupa in the world, build 1500 years ago. Around Bhouda there are several Buddhist monasteries, you will visit around the stupa and different monasteries. After lunch drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square for sightseeing, from Durbar square walk to Thamel tourist market sightseeing. Evening our representative will take you for a farewell Nepali typical dinner with a culture program. After dinner back to hotel.

After breakfast or lunch, our representative will drive before three hours your flight time to airport flight back to your destination.       Complete the trip.
