Welcome, for moderate teahouse (lodging) trek at Gokyo - Kala patter Mt. Everest Khumbu region.
This is one of the long duration lodging trek above 5,000m. elevation at east Nepal, Mt. Everest Himalayan region. Mt. Everest (alt. 8,848m.86m.) 1st highest Himalayan peak in the world. During this trek you will reach at two high ridges Gokyo Ri (alt. 5,340m.) and Kala patter (alt. 5,545m.) from there you can see spectacular views of above 8,000m. Himalayan peaks and several other peaks.
This trek will start from Lukla airport, ending at same place at Lukla. Lukla / Namche / Lukla same route for up and down. After Namche Bazer this trek will follows the route to Gokyo lake. From Gokyo lake back to Everest base camp Kala patter region from Fortse village.
If you are physically fit and healthy, who have idea about Alps and Himalaya can do this trek. Recent days there are several tourist standard hotels, lodges, tea houses and restaurants are available for this trekking route. Which made easy for trekkers for accommodation and daily meals.
Himalayan views: During thus trek you will see giant view of Mt. Everest from Kala patter just front of you. You can see above 8,000m. peaks: Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho oyu. Below 8,000m. Himalayan peaks: Nuptse, Pumori, Chamlang, Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Khang Tega, Gyajung khang and Tawuche. Trekking peaks: Mera, Cholatse, Labuche, Kwangde, Kusum Khangkaru, Labuche, Kongma Tse, Parchamo and Island peak you can see during the trek.
Monastery and Sherpa villages: At Khumbu region during the trek you can visit Namche, Tyangboche, Pangboche, Themi and Khumjung monasteries in trekking route. Your trek will pass through the major Sherpa villages are Pharak, Namche, Khumjung, Khunde, Pangboche and Thame.
Trekking season: For this trek March to May is the best time. At the Himalayan region after Namche you can see colourful rhododendrons and other wild flowers in full bloom, clear views of the Himalaya and mountains. Spring season brings the happiness for all the local farmers and trekkers at Khumbu valley.
Monsoon (summer) season June to August heavily raining, landslide, high label of rivers may block the trekking trails. Not good visibility to see the Himalaya and mountains.
Between September to November good time trekking at this region. You can see spectacular views of Himalaya and mountains. At this region very clear weather and temperature not so cold.
Winter season December – February it is not possible trek at this region. All the high passes trekking trails close, heavy snow fall, temperature below zero. Recent years global warming changes the Himalayan climate and environment, at the Himalayan region any time can change the weather.
Trekking equipment: For this high elevation trek, you need warm equipment and sleeping bag. If you don’t have such, you can hire or buy at Kathmandu as your size.
Accommodation: Everest region is one of the easy, busy and expensive trekking route, because of transport from Kathmandu by flight or Helicopter. At this region all kinds of facilities are available, comfortable hotels, normal tea houses, lodges and restaurant services are available for trekkers.
Recent years many Sherpa people live at other country or Kathmandu, most of the tea houses and lodges hire for other family.
Daily meals: Main Nepali dish Dal Bhat Tarkari (boiled rice, vegetable, lentil with hot pickle) you will get in every tea houses. Each restaurant, you will get vegetarian or non veg. dishes, different kinds of breakfast set, lunch and dinner as chapati, Tibetan breads, momos, Stew, pasta, noodles, pizza, several items of fresh vegetables, potatoes, meats, eggs, soups, hot and cold drinks, which you can check at menu.
Your guide will always check before your order what is fresh and available.
You can ask Himalayan organic vegetables from (green house) if available. At Khumbu region, Sherpa people don’t kill any animals for meat. They buy chicken, buffalo and mutton from Namche Bazer. Sometime you can get Yak meats but really expensive.

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport, our representative will welcome you with flowers, drive to the star hotel as your booking, welcome drinks at the reception check in room. Dinner at your hotel’s restaurant our tour manager will brief you about Khumbu trekking and other necessary information.
After breakfast at hotel, guide will pick up you, drive to airport about 35 minutes morning flight to Lukla (2,840m.) from air plane you can get excellent view of Jugal Himal range, Gauri Shanker, Dud Kunda and Kwangde.
Lukla airport situated at 2,840m. Lunch at Lukla, meet with porters. Start your first day trek about three hours to Phakding village if the flight on time, if late flight because of weather or other problem overnight stay at hotel Lukla airport. 3 hours easy trek.
After breakfast easy trek to Benkar village, trek continue check national park entry permit at Monjo check post, normal lunch at Jorsalle. Easy trek to Larcha Dhovan, cross the suspension bridge ascend to Namche Bazzar for o/n hotel accommodation. At Namche Bazzar there are several facilities available for the trekkers such as ATM, bank, trekking shop, Wi – Fi and tourist standard lodges, hotels and restaurant. 5 to 6 hours trek.
Rest for high acclimatization, visit Namche monastery, Sherpa village and national park museum. From National Park Museum, you can see spectacular view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Tawache, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Khang tega, Kusum Tsenga, kwangde and Khumbi illa. Namche is the main market for Khumbu region, each Saturday a small market at Namche, most of the Khumbu’s peoples are coming to buy their daily supply.
After breakfast, easy trek to Sanasa for lunch, after Sanasa there is two way. The main route right hand side going for Tyangboche, the left-hand side for Gokyo valley, easy climb to Mong Danda stop for tea, from this place you can see nice view of Tyangboche and Fortse village. Descend to Fortse Tanga for overnight lodge accommodation. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, gradually climb to Dole (altitude 4,200m.) for lunch. Now you are above 4,000m. You will feel very thin and dry air, trek slowly step by step, after lunch short rest trek continues Macharma for overnight lodge accommodation. 6 to 7 hours trek.
After breakfast, trek continues tea stop on the way lunch at Phanga (4,470m.) gradually ascend trek continue to Gokyo Lake for overnight hotel or lodge accommodation. There are several hotels and lodges are available, your guide will look a good accommodation for your two-night stay. 6 to 7 hours trek.
After breakfast, early morning gradually climb to Gokyo Ri (alt. 5,340m.) for the best Himalayan view. Take a Packed lunch (picnic) with hot tea or juice. From Gokyo Ri you can get spectacular view of Cho you, Gyajung khang, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Khangtega, Kusum Khangkaru, Tawuche, Makalu, Baruntse, Chamlang and many Himalayan peaks. After panoramic view descend to Gokyo at same place.
After breakfast, about half hour same way back to second lake, follow left hand side Ngojumba glacier trail to Taknak for lunch, trek continues to Fortse village for overnight lodge accommodation. It will be a long day between Gokyo to Fortse village. There are not any good lodge to stay between Gokyo to Fortse village, maybe in near future. 8 to 9 hours trek.
There is an option: trek from Taknak to Cho la pass descends to Dzongla valley to Everest base camp. This route is quite adventure, not possible to cross the pass if heavy snowfall.
After breakfast, easy trek to Pangboche village for lunch, visit the oldest monastery at Khumbu region. Trek continues, tea stop at Orsho, after short rest continue to Pheriche for overnight lodge accommodation. There are several tourist standard lodges are available. 6 to 7 hours trek.
After breakfast, gradual ascend to late Sherpa’s memory place, lunch at Thukla (4620m.) trek continues to Labuche for overnight lodge accommodation. 6 to 7 hours trek.
Early breakfast, trek through Khumbu glacier to Gorak shap (alt. 5,110m.) stop for hot tea or soup, check in room put your luggage. Take a packed lunch (picnic) gradually ascend to Kala patter (alt. 5,545m.) for best view of Mt. Everest. From Kala patter you can get spectacular views of Pumori, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Khangkaru, Tawuche, Makalu, Everest base camp and many other Himalayan peaks. After best panoramic views descend to Gorak shap for overnight accommodation.
For the nice view of Mt. Everest ascend to Kala patter 5,545m. from Kalapatter you can see giant view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Pumo ri and Everest ice fall. Also, you can see spectacular view of Makalu, Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Khangkaru, Tawuche and other many Himalayan peaks. After Himalayan view descend to Gorakshap for lunch. Same route back, to Lobuche for overnight lodge accommodation 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, descend to Thukla for lunch, trek continues to Dingboche for overnight lodge accommodation. At Dingboche there are several lodges with restaurant, your guide will look a good accommodation for your over night staying at Dingboche. 6 to 7 hours trek.
There is an option: From Labuche trek through Khumbu glacier cross Kongma la pass descends to Dingboche valley, which is really adventures trek. If heavy snowfall to cross the pass not possible.
Today you will meet the trekking route which you came before from Pangboche village. After breakfast, easy trek to Pangboche village, for lunch descend to the river cross the bridge, trek continue to Tyangboche monastery. At Tyangboche there are several tourist standard hotels and lodges, your guide will find you a good accommodation for your overnight staying. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, gradually descend to Phungi tenga, cross the bridge trek continue to Sanasa for tea stop, trek continues to Khumjung village for overnight hotel or lodge accommodation and lunch together. After lunch visit Khumjung monastery and Khunde hospital. 3 to 4 hours trek.
Khumjung, Khunde is one of the most beautiful villages of world-famous Sherpa families.
After breakfast, visit the Everest view hotel (World hight elevation hotel) run by Japanese. The hotel is really beautiful on top of hill and expensive too. After the panoramic views descend to Namche Bazzar for lunch. Trek continues return back same route to Monjo village for overnight accommodation. There are several lodges with restaurant as well. 5 to 6 hours trek.
After breakfast, easy trek to Choplung village for lunch, trek continues to Lukla for overnight hotel accommodation. 4 to 5 hours trek.
After dinner Tips for trekking guide and porters. Trek successful gathering party with your trekking staff and team members. Ccomplete the trek.
After breakfast, flight out from Lukla to Kathmandu with guide, at Kathmandu airport, vehicle will be waiting for you, drive to hotel welcome drinks at the reception check in room. Afternoon free, Lunch and dinner as your choice at any restaurant.
After breakfast, the city guide will pick you up at hotel for sightseeing at world heritage list by UNESCO at different places. Sightseeing tours beginning short drive to Swyambhu nath stupa, which is oldest Buddhist stupa in the world, build 2,000 years ago. Visit around the stupa, offering the butter lamps for your good Karma and future for all. From Swyambhu you can see very clear view of Kathmandu valley. Drive to Bhoudha, which is biggest Buddhist stupa in the world, build 1500 years ago. Around Bhouda there are several Buddhist monasteries, you will visit around the stupa and different monasteries. After lunch drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square for sightseeing, from Durbar square walk to Thamel tourist market sightseeing. Evening our representative will take you for a farewell Nepali typical dinner with a culture program. After dinner back to hotel.
