The trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep 5,164m. is the final approach before reaching Everest Base Camp / Kala patthar. While it is one of the shortest sections in terms of distance, it is often considered one of the most mentally and physically demanding due to the extreme altitude.

The Journey Above 5,000m:  After breakfast in Lobuche, we begin our trek toward Gorak Shep. This is one of the most unique stretches of the journey, as you are now walking above 5,000m. at Khumbu glacier, in the thin, dry air of the high Himalayas. It is very common to feel winded, dizzy, or to develop a headache during this trek..

As you approach Gorak Shep, the trail crosses the moraine and Glacier. This is often the most technical part of the day, involving rocky, uneven ground that demands focus and steady, slow movement.

Key Advice: Do not try to rush this section. Rushing at this altitude significantly increases the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Take your time be slowly step by step. Drink 3 - 4 liters of water. The air is extremely dry, and dehydration exacerbates altitude symptoms. Eat simple, high-energy snacks (nuts, chocolate, dried fruit) to keep your blood sugar steady. You may find your appetite suppressed by the altitude, but try to eat something nutritious in the communal dining room upon arrival.

Gorak Shep: We aim to reach Gorak Shep in time for lunch. Gorak Shep is the launching point for two major objectives: the hike to Everest Base Camp and the sunrise climb to Kala Patthar. This small settlement is the final stopping point before Everest Base camp / Kala patthar.

After lunch just relax at you room keep warm your body, early dinner go for bed, tomorrow early morning you have to ascent to Kala patthar ridge.

Meals (Breakfast + Lunch & Dinner) Stay at: Lodge. Walking: approximately 3 to 4 hours. High gain: 224 meters.

The trek from Gorak Shep to Kalapatthar is arguably the most important climb of the Everest Base Camp journey. While Everest Base Camp is the "destination," Kala Patthar is where you actually get the iconic, unobstructed view of Mt. Everest's summit and other several Himalayan views in 360-degree.

Ascent to Kalapatthar: Wake up before 4:00 in the freezing dark of Gorak Shep. Sip a hot ginger tea or coffee and fuel up quickly. Switch on your headlamp and begin the steep, zigzagging path. The trail is made of dark, loose rock and scree. At 5,545m. you are breathing half the oxygen you’d have at sea level. Pace yourself, expect to stop every 10–15 steps to catch your breath. It will take roughly 2 to 3 hours to reach the top.

The Summit: The Kala patthar Top 5,545m. is marked by a cluster of boulders draped in colorful prayer flags. It is often extremely windy and freezing cold tempreture most trekkers stay for only 15–30 minutes to capture photos before the cold sets in.

The Panorama: This is the ultimate "face-to-face" view of Mt. Everest. From this ridge, you can look directly down at the Everest Base Camp tents, Khumbu Icefall and glacier. The 360-degree view includes Pumori, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and even Makalu in the distance.

Your guide will offer hot coffee and juice you can drink and enjoy the panoramic views of Himalaya, which makes you really happy time. Explore about half houre at top and descend to helicopter port, about the helicopter time table your guide will inform you.

Helicopter will flight back to Kathmandu via Lukla airport, which takes about one and half hours. During the flight you can see very colse views of Himalayan peaks and local villages.
