14 days Annapurna circuit (Throng pass):

Dear all trekkers,
Namaste! A warm welcome to trekkers from all over the world. We invite you to trekking at Annapurna circuit 'Throng pass' region. Which is a true paradise for those who love high-altitude adventure, untouched nature, and the serene mountain environment.

About Annapurna circuit trek: Annapurna (alt. 8,091 m.) is the 10th highest peak in the world, situated at west Nepal. Annapurna circuit Throng pass is one of the busy lodging trekking routes in season.

The Annapurna Circuit is often hailed as the "classic" Nepal trek. Less expensive than the Everest region. At this region, you watch the landscape change from rice paddies and banana trees to rhododendron forests, then alpine meadows, and finally the stark, wind-swept rain shadow of the Mustang region.

Annapurna conservation area (ACAP) is largest protected area covering 7,629 sq. km. which established in 1992. It is really pity, very fewer wild animals and birds can see at this region, because of poor security and local hunting people.

Highlights the journey: Recent days the transport to Manang is available from Kathmandu, however, we do not recommend this due to the risk of altitude sickness. We prefer to drive to Chame Bazaar and trek for Annapurna circuit.

This gradual ascent helps your body adjust safely. The route follows the Marshyangdi River, passing through traditional Manang villages like Brathang, Pisang, Braga, Manang ascent to Throng pass.

Views before Throng pass: The Himalaya and other views always better from high elevation. After Pissang village you will see spectacular giant views of Annapurna range at your left-hand side. During the trek you can see above 8,000m. Himalayan peaks Annapurna I, and Manaslu. The iconic Himalayan peaks Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Glacier doom, Tili Cho peak. You can see the trekking peaks Chulu east, Chulu and Pissang peak. You are in the lush, green, and jagged Marshyangdi valleys of Manang, each day you can see Annapurna range very clearly.

Views after Throng Pass: After Throng pass you can see spectacular view of Dhaulagiri range, Tukche peak, Nilgiri and Mustang Tibet border’s peaks. You drop into the rain-shadow of the Himalayas (Lower Mustang) at Kali Gandaki valley. The landscape becomes arid and desert-like, which makes the massive, snow-covered Dhaulagiri look even more imposing against the brown hills.

How the trek starts & progression:

During your 14-days trip, you will stay two nights in Kathmandu. On the third morning, drive with your trekking guide and porters to Chame Bazaar for Annapurna circuit (Thorang La pass) trek.

You will spend one night at Chame Bazaar, next morning begin  six-days trek passing through Manang village  to Throng pass (alt. 5,416m.)  which is the highest elevation on this journey.

The breath-taking natural scenery and stunning vistas of the Himalayas, along with the serene environment, make this the perfect escape to find lasting happiness and leave the stress of daily life behind. Descend to Jomsom Airport, and the next morning, take a panoramic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara.

You will spend two nights at Pokhara Lakeside, where you can relax and enjoy your holiday. From Pokhara, take a scenic 200 km tourist bus drive back to Kathmandu for your final two nights before taking your flight home on the 14th day.

Note: See below for an overview of the 14-day Annapurna circuit (Throng pass) journey. For complete details on Kathmandu hotels, trekking routes, elevation, walking times, meals, and accommodations, refer to the "Day-by-Day Itinerary" at the bottom of this page.

High altitude sickness and safety:

High Altitude sickness occurs when your body cannot get enough oxygen due to the lower air pressure at high elevations, especially if you ascend too quickly. It is a common condition that can affect anyone at any time, regardless of fitness level. While there is no need to be nervous, it is vital to stay attentive to your body.

How to recognizing the major symptoms? If you experience any of the following symptoms, stop your ascent immediately:

1. Persistent headache or dizziness.  2. Nausea or vomiting.  3. Loss of appetite. 4. Difficulty sleeping.

What to do if symptoms appear: Do not climb higher. The best remedy is descending to a lower altitude as quickly as possible. While preparing to descend or resting, follow these steps:

•  Hydrate: Drink plenty of hot fluids.

•  Eat: Try garlic soup, a popular local remedy for circulation.

•  Rest: Allow your body time to acclimatize and recover.

How to prevent from high altitude sickness?

•  Climb slowly: Avoid going from low altitude to over 2,500 meters (8,000 feet) in a single day if possible.

•  Limit sleeping elevation: Above 3,000 meters (10,000 feet), increase your sleeping altitude.

•  Climb high, sleep low: Hike to higher elevations during the day for acclimatization, but return to a lower altitude to sleep.

•  Take rest days: Schedule a dedicated rest day every 3 to 4 days, or every 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) of total gain.

Our safety guarantee: Most trekkers feel better after a day of rest or a slight descent. However, if your condition does not improve, your guide will take immediate action, for another solution check at H.R.A. (Himalayan Rescue Association) clinic at Manang. In serious cases, clinic will recommend a rescue we can arrange an emergency helicopter evacuation.

Emergency rescue: Your safety is our top priority. In the event of serious illness or injury, ground transport is too slow due to the remote terrain. The fastest and most reliable option is emergency helicopter evacuation.

We can arrange an emergency helicopter evacuation from any point on the trail back to Kathmandu within a few hours (weather permitting). To ensure a smooth and life-saving rescue.

Travel insurance: Unfortunate illness or injury can happen to anyone, anywhere. In the remote mountain regions where we trek, your safety is paramount. Because ground transport to the nearest clinic can be slow, we rely on rapid aerial response.

•    Helicopter rescue: From Kathmandu, offers the fastest rescue service but is extremely expensive.

•    Action required: We strongly advise you to issue a comprehensive travel insurance policy from your home country or in Kathmandu. Your policy must specifically cover emergency helicopter evacuation and medical expenses at high altitudes up to 5,000 meters.

Our team will handle all the logistics with your insurance provider and the helicopter operators so that you can focus entirely on recovery.

Pro Tip: Please Always carry a digital and printed copy of your insurance certificate and the 24-hour emergency contact number for your provider.

Trekking season and weather:

Due to the effects of global warming, mountain weather has become increasingly unpredictable. However, the Himalayan seasons generally follow these patterns:

Spring Season (March - May) Spectacular clear views. The stable weather brings excellent visibility. Above 3,000m, beautiful landscape with Himalayan rhododendrons and various wildflowers in full blossom.

Autumn Season (September - November) one of the spectacular, uninterrupted views of the mountains and high Himalaya. Perfect temperatures for trekking, making days enjoyable one of the best times for the trek.

Winter (December – February): These seasons present significant challenges for the Annapurna Circuit. In winter, heavy snowfall frequently blocks the Thorang Pass, making the crossing dangerous or impossible.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.  Lodging at Pissang village.   Approximately 5 to 6 hours.

The trek from Pisang to Manang is widely considered the most spectacular day on the Annapurna Circuit. You have a critical choice to make: the Lower Route (faster/flatter) or the High Route (steeper/epic views).

Morning Trek:  The lower route, this path follows the valley floor and the dirt road. It passes through the village of Humde (where there is a small mountain airstrip). While easier on the legs, it is much dustier and lacks the dramatic panoramic vistas of the high route. You can take lunch at Humde or Braga as your appetite.

Day Trek: After Humde, you have to cross the bridge, an easy trek to Braga village. The upper route from Gyaro / Ngawal will be join here at Braga.ven if you're interested you can expolre the Braga Monastery is worth the 20-minute detour. It’s one of the oldest and most atmospheric in the region.

Lodging at Manang: Manang is a fascinating place where the landscape shifts from the pine forests you saw earlier into a high-altitude, arid "trans-Himalayan" desert. Since you are staying for two nights to acclimatize, you have the perfect opportunity to let your body adjust before tackling the Thorong La Pass.

At Manang there are several lodges, your guide will select the best available lodge or hotel for your two-night stay.If you like this is your last chance for high-quality apple pie or chocolate croissants for a few days.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.  Logding at Manang village.  Approximately 5 to 6 hours.

You are now above 3,500m. high elevation,  Your blood oxygen levels are significantly lower than at sea level. Manang is the traditional "safety buffer" where most trekkers spend an extra day to prevent Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS).

The Golden Rule: Stay active during your "rest" day. If you just sit in the lodge, your body acclimatizes slower. You want to "climb high and sleep low."

Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) usually gives a free daily lecture at 3:00 PM about altitude safety. It’s highly recommended.

Day Hike: After lunch you can A short walk across the river to a glacial lake. You can climb the ridge nearby for a great view of the Gangapurna Icefall.

If you are fie well, you can full-day hike. It’s a steep grind, but it is the best possible preparation for the pass. If you can make it to Ice Lake (alt. 4,600m.) and back, the Thorong La will feel much more manageable.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.  Lodging at same place.  As you can.

Morning Trek: After a hearty breakfast (and perhaps one last stop at a bakery café), begin your ascent toward the high pass.

Lunch: Enjoy an easy trek to Yak Kharka, where we will stop for lunch amidst high-altitude grazing lands.

The Journey: The trek continues as the landscape becomes more rugged and alpine, leading you toward the base of the pass at Thorong Phedi.

Logistics & Arrival: During the busy trekking season, lodges at Thorong Phedi can become completely full. To ensure your comfort, your guide may head out ahead of the group to secure a room reservation.

You can also see Putha Hiunchuli, Tukuche Peak, and Dhampus Peak, with views stretching across the Kali Gandaki Valley into the mysterious Mustang region.

The Descent: After crossing the pass, begin a long, gradual descent to Phedi for a restorative tea break and rest.

Arrival: Afternoon you will reach at Muktinath. The trek continues downward until you reach the sacred village of Muktinath, a significant pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. From Muktinath to Jomsom Bazaar the transport service is available, you can decide with your team and guide, trek or drive to Jomsom.

Breakfast, pack Lunch and Dinner.  Lodging at Muktinath.  Approximately 8 to 9 hours.
