Dear all trekkers,
Namaste! A warm welcome to trekkers from all over the world. We invite you to trekking at Mt. Everest Khumbu region three pass trek. Which is a true paradise for those who love high-altitude adventure, untouched nature, and the serene mountain environment.
About three pass treks: The Three Passes Trek is widely considered the ultimate trekking experience in Nepal’s Everest (Khumbu) region. It’s essentially the "grand tour," taking you to Everest Base Camp and over three high-altitude mountain passes that offer 360-degree views of the Himalayas.
The Challenge: You aren't just walking uphill; you’re navigating scree slopes, crossing a glacier, and dealing with extreme altitude for multiple days in a row. For this trip, you need to be physically fit, well acclimatize and strong enough.
The Three high adventure passes are as follow:
1. Komgma la (alt. 5,534m.) The highest and toughest pass; offers stunning views of LHotse and the Khumbu Glacier.
2. Cho La pass (alt. 5,420m.) Involves crossing a small glacier; connects the Everest Base Camp trail to the Gokyo Lakes.
3. Renjo La (alt. 5,360m.) Arguably the best view in Nepal, looking over Gokyo Lakes with Everest in the background. After the pass descent to Lungden valley at Thame region.
Three high best Himalayan panoramic ridges are:
1. Chhukung Ri (5,550m.): Located above the village of Chhukung, this is often used as a "warm-up" before tackling the first pass (Kongma La).
You are looking at the massive south face of Lhotse and Nuptse. It also gives you a bird's-eye view of Island Peak. It’s steep and rocky, but because it's earlier in the trek, it’s a great test for how your lungs are handling the altitude '' High climb - Low sleep''
2. Kalapatthar (5,545m.): This is the most famous viewpoint in the world for a reason. Located above Gorakshap and Everest Base Camp.
You cannot actually see the summit of Mount Everest from Everest Base Camp. You climb Kala Patthar to see it. It offers the classic view of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse towering over the Khumbu Icefall.
The Tip: Most people climb this at sunrise, but sunset is actually better because the sun hits the face of Everest directly (instead of being behind it).
3. Gokyo Ri (5,357m.) Located above Gokyo Lake. Many trekkers consider this the best view of the entire trip.
The View: A "four-peak" panorama. You can see four 8,000m peaks at once: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. You also look down onto the Ngozumpa Glacier (the longest in the Himalayas) and the brilliant turquoise waters of the Gokyo Lakes.
Highlights the journey: The journey begins with the famous flight into Tenzing-Hillary Airport, the Gateway Lukla (2,840m). The Path to Namche: From Lukla, you actually descend initially toward Phakding. You follow the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several high suspension bridges draped in prayer flags.
In - route from Jorsalle Nepal army check post Sagarmatha National Park will start, which established in 1976 declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. UNESCO recognized the region for its unique blend of natural beauty and Sherpa culture, as well as its ecological importance. The national park helps to keep the flora, fauna and wildlife animals at this region. During the trekking period you can watch very closely the Himalayan tahr and Musk deer.
After Namche Bazaar this trek will pass through Tyangboche monastery, Pangboche, Dingboche, Kongma pass, Everest base camp, Cho la pass, Gokyo lake, Renjo pass, Thami village to Namche Bazaar. Recent days there are several tourist standard hotels, lodges, tea houses and restaurants are available at this trekking routes. Which made easier for accommodation and daily meals.
Finishing the high passes and descending through the Thame valley brings you back to the familiar streets of Namche Bazaar. Retracing your steps from Namche to Lukla often feels like a "victory lap" the air feels thicker, the walking feels easier, and you can truly enjoy the scenery you first saw when the journey began.
Please Note: For the details trekking routes, lodging and lodges accommodation, please check ''day - by - day route itinerary'' at the end of this site.
Safety Note - Animal Caravans: In the Khumbu (Everest), you will frequently encounter caravans of Yaks, Jopkyos, and Mules transporting goods. If you hear bells ringing in the distance, start looking for a wide spot in the trail to step aside immediately. It’s much easier to find a safe spot early than to scramble when the caravan is right on top of you. Always move to the mountainside (the inner wall) of the trail and wait for the animals to pass. Never stand on the cliff-side edge.
