15 days Manaslu Circuit (Larkya pass):

Dear all trekkers,

Namaste! A warm welcome to trekkers from all over the world. We invite you to trekking at Manaslu Larkya pass region. Which is a true paradise for those who love high-altitude adventure, untouched nature, and the serene mountain environment.

About the Trekking: Manaslu (alt. 8,163m.) is the world's 8th highest Himalayan peak, situated north-west of Kathmandu, at Gorkha district. This trek is one of the Challenging lodging trekking pass above 5,000m. at Nepal. During this trek you have to cross one high pass is called Larkya pass 5,106m. At this region since 1998 Manaslu conservation area established it cover 1,663 sq. km. at this region, upper parts at this region, after Deng village (where the Buddhist society peoples are living) it is prohibited to kill or hunting any animals and birds. There are several Buddhist monasteries and holy places.

Highlights the journey: Trek will start from Machha khola (930m.) after the motor road, in future the motorable road will be build more than trekking duration will be shorter. Trek pass through several small villages at Nubri valley, cross Larkya pass (5,106m.) descend to Marshyangdi valley. Trek ending at Dharapani, drive back to Kathmandu or continue trek for Annapurna circuit.  For the details trekking routes and lodges accommodation, please look at the daily route itinerary at the end of this site.

At this region, most villages like Namrung, Lho, and Samagaun now have "standard" lodges with twin-sharing rooms. The "Larkya Phedi" (Dharmasala)  is the only place where accommodation remains very basic. Because it's a high-altitude base (4,460m), it’s mostly stone huts with dormitory beds. It’s the one night where the routine might feel a bit more "raw."

ACAP has more roads, jeeps, and larger tea houses. Animals like the Red Panda or Musk Deer are extremely sensitive to noise and tend to move further away from the main trekking corridors. With over 100,000 residents living inside the conservation area, the "buffer zones" between humans and wildlife are much smaller than in the restricted Manaslu zone.

In the peak season this trekking route will be busy with Thousands of trekkers from different parts of the world. For comfortable rooms book in advance.

Please Note: For all the specific route details and trip information, please follow the ''day - by - day itinerary'' at the bottom of this site.

Safety Note - Animal Caravans:  In the Manaslu region, you will frequently encounter caravans of Yaks, Jopkyos, and Mules transporting goods. If you hear bells ringing in the distance, start looking for a wide spot in the trail to step aside immediately. It’s much easier to find a safe spot early than to scramble when the caravan is right on top of you. Always move to the mountainside (the inner wall) of the trail and wait for the animals to pass. Never stand on the cliff-side edge.

Himalayan Panoramas: The grandeur of the Himalayas reveals itself more clearly as you gain elevation. While the initial days of the trek offer limited mountain views, the landscape transforms once you reach Namrung. From Syala Village, you’ll be treated to a breath-taking, front-row view of Mount Manaslu. As you progress, spectacular vistas of Baudha Himal, Himal Chuli, and Nadi Chuli emerge. After crossing the Larkya La Pass, the horizon opens up further to showcase the massive peaks of Himlung, Cheo Himal, and the iconic Annapurna range.

High altitude sickness and Safety:

High-altitude sickness occurs when your body can’t get enough oxygen because the lower air pressure at higher elevation above 3,000m. when you ascend too quickly during the trek. At High elevation anyone at any time can be suffering from high-altitude sickness which is common, you don’t have to be nervous but please be attention.

If you feel symptoms of high- altitude (Headache, vomiting, loss your appetite, Dizziness and trouble falling asleep) stop to ascending immediately descend as possible. Eat enough garlic soup, take lots of hot drinks and rest. Next day you will feel better, if not your guide will look for another solution. We can arrange an emergency helicopter evacuation.

Emergency Helicopter Evacuation: Your safety is our absolute priority. In the event of serious illness or injury, our guides are trained to act immediately. They will maintain constant communication with our Kathmandu-based agency to coordinate a rapid response.

We can arrange an emergency helicopter evacuation from any point on the trail back to Kathmandu within a few hours (weather permitting). To ensure a smooth and life-saving rescue, we require all our guests to have travel insurance that specifically covers high-altitude helicopter rescue and medical evacuation. Our team will handle all the logistics with your insurance provider and the helicopter operators so that you can focus entirely on recovery.

Travel Insurance: Unfortunate illness or injury can happen to anyone, anywhere. In the remote mountain regions where we trek, your safety is paramount. Because ground transport to the nearest clinic can be slow, we rely on rapid aerial response.

•    Action Required: We strongly advise you to issue a 'comprehensive travel insurance policy' from your home country or in Kathmandu. Your policy must specifically cover emergency helicopter evacuation and medical expenses at high altitudes (up to 6,000m.)

Pro Tip: Please Always carry a digital and printed copy of your insurance certificate and the 24-hour emergency contact number for your provider.

📅Best Trekking season and weather:

Spring (March - May): Spring is one of the premier seasons for trekking in the Manaslu region, famous for its crystal-clear views and stable weather. Excellent visibility offers trekkers an unobstructed look at the peaks. This season also sees the landscape come alive; rare wildflowers and vibrant rhododendron forests burst into full bloom, painting the trails in their brightest colours.

Autumn (September - November): Following the monsoon, Autumn unveils some of the most spectacular and uninterrupted mountain vistas in the Manaslu region. The air is exceptionally crisp, offering unparalleled views of the high Himalayas. With mild, stable temperatures and clear blue skies, the trekking conditions are nearly perfect, making every day on the trail truly enjoyable.

Winter (December – February) & Summer (June – August): These seasons present significant challenges for the Manaslu Circuit. In winter, heavy snowfall frequently blocks the Larkya La Pass, making the crossing dangerous or impossible. During the summer monsoon, heavy rains result in poor visibility and the presence of leeches on the trails. More importantly, the risk of landslides increases, and rising river levels can wash out trekking paths or block the motor roads leading to the trailhead.

If the road good same vehicle will drive to Machha Khola, if not we will  change the vehicle. From Dading beshi to Machha Khola via Arught, we take a 4WD jeep.

Dhading Besi to Arughat: The road becomes narrower and more winding as you descend toward the Budhi Gandaki River valley.

Arughat to Machha Khola: This is the most challenging section. The road follows the river northward. In the past, the trek started at Arughat or Soti Khola, but the road has now extended to Machha Khola, allowing trekkers to save 1–2 days of walking in the lower region.

Machha Khola: Late afternoon you will reach at Machha Khola. There is few lodges for overnight stay and for meals. Machha Khola is where most trekkers now begin their first day of walking toward Jagat and the higher Manaslu region.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Stay at: Local lodge. Driveing  hours up to the road condition.

Morning Trek: Breakfast at Machha Khola, your first day trek will start. We suggest you, please take your time be slowlel but sure. The trekking trail will pass through Khorlabesi, A beautiful Gurung village where you might see local farmers working in coffee and tobacco fields.Tatopani "Tato" means hot and "Pani" means water. There are natural hot springs here with stone taps. It’s a great place to splash your face or soak your hands for a quick energy. After crossing the first suspension bridge, you reach Dhoban for lunch.

After Lunch: After lunch take short rest, You will cross a dramatic cantilever bridge (a bridge attached to the side of a cliff) trek pass through landslide, cross the bridge ascent to Jagat village.

Lodging: The tea houses here are quite comfortable compared to what lies ahead, often offering decent local food and even small shops to buy last-minute snacks or "trekking toilet paper."

Check post: Jagat is a critical administrative stop. Because you are now entering a restricted zone, your guide must present your Manaslu Restricted Area Trekking Permit and Manaslu Conservation Area entry permit at the police station.

Meals: Berakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Stay at: Local lodge. Walking:  Approximately 5 to 6 hours.

Mornig Trek:  After breakfast at your lodge trek pass through Salleri, Sirdibas:cross the bridge ascent to Phillim village.  Philim (alt. 1,570m.) is one of the largest and most prosperous villages in the region. It’s a great spot for an early lunch or you can go further at Ekale Bhatti.

After Lunch: After lunch at Phillim hava a short rest, easy trek to Ekle Bhatti, before reaching a junction. Right hand side trail leads to the Tsum Valley,  we cross again the bridge abovr Buri Gandaki. The final walking through lush bamboo and rhododendron forests brings you into the village of Deng.

Lodging: Deng is a small but culturally rich stop on the Manaslu Circuit. it offers a simple and authentic Himalayan experience that emphasizes the transition into the Buddhist culture of the high mountains.

You can expect basic twin-sharing rooms with wooden walls. The lodges in Deng are known for their cozy, family-run feel. Because there are only a few, the atmosphere is often more intimate than in larger hubs.

For the dinner you can eat Dhal - Bhat - Tarkari with local fresh organic vegetavles.

Meals: Berakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Stay at: Local lodge. Walking:  Approximately 5 to 6 hours.

From today you enter the heart of the Upper Nubri region, where the landscape and the people are profoundly influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. This is often described as one of the most culturally moving days of the Manaslu Circuit.

Morning Trek:  After breakfast at your lodge, you will cross the Budi Gandaki below the village of Bhi.Trek pass through Prok and Ghap village, known for its traditional houses and local monastery. Lunch stop at Pork or Ghap as your appetite.

The Mani stones here are particularly famous for their intricate carvings of deities and mantras. After Ghap, the trail enters a dense, mossy forest of rhododendron, fir, and bamboo. It feels like a "fairy tale" forest, often alive with the sounds of Langur monkeys. The day ends with a steady, steep climb through the forest to reach the ridge top where Namrung is located.

Lodging:You’ll find some of the best teahouses on the trek here, such as the Nubri Four Seasons Resort or the Thakali Guest House. Many lodges in Namrung now offer hot gas showers and relatively reliable Wi-Fi (for a fee).

If the weather is clear in the evening or early morning, you will get your first spectacular views of Himalchuli (alt. 7,893m.) and Mt. Manaslu North (alt.7,157m.) from the village.

Meals: Berakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Stay at: Local lodge. Walking: Approximately 5 to 6 hours.

Today is often described as the most "scenic peak" of the trek. You will move from the forests of Namrung into the high-altitude alpine meadows of Syala, where the mountains no longer feel like distant peaks, they are right in front of you.

While some trekkers push all the way to Samagaun, In my experience Syala is less corwd and more panorama. Syala is a new settlement .While the walk is shorter, you will feel the thinner air today as you cross the 3,000m. threshold. Syala is a perfect place to "climb high and sleep low" if you arrive early.

Morning Trek: Breakfast at your lodge, trek pass through Lihi, Sho and Lho village. For lunch you can stop as your appetite any village's tea houses. After Lho, the trail descends briefly to a stream before climbing steadily through a serene pine and rhododendron forest that opens up into the wide valley of Syala.

Lodging: You’ll find that the lodges here (like the Shyala Guest House or Nubri Shyala) are often cleaner and less crowded than those in the larger hubs. Many now feature solar-heated dining rooms and improved bedding.

Panoramic Views: From Syala, you get a 360-degree spectacular view of Manaslu, Himalchuli, and Peak 29.

Meals: Berakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Stay at: Local lodge. Walking:  Approximately 5 to 6 hours.

The trek from Syala to Samdo takes you deeper into the high-altitude territory of the Manaslu Circuit, where the landscape shifts from alpine forests to more arid, Tibetan-style high plateaus. There are several teahouses in Samdo. Like Syala, they are simple but cozy. The Samdo Lodge and Yak Hotel are popular options.

Morning Trek: After a short and easy walk from Syala (about 1 hour), you arrive at Samagaun, the largest and most important village in the region. Many trekkers choose to stop here for lunch or visit the Kargyu Chholing Monastery. From Samagaun, you can see the trail leading up toward Manaslu Base Camp.

After Lunch: Beyond Samagaun, the trail follows the Budi Gandaki river, which has now become much smaller. You’ll walk through wide glacial valleys with massive yak pastures on either side. The trail is lined with impressive Mani walls. After crossing a wooden bridge over a small stream, the trail climbs a steep ridge that brings you into the village of Samdo.

Lodging: Samdo is a fascinating village inhabited by Tibetan refugees who settled here in the 1950s. It is a true high-altitude settlement with a very traditional way of life. The culture here is purely Tibetan. You will see many yaks, and the houses are built with flat roofs and thick stone walls to withstand the harsh wind and cold.

Now you are very close to the Tibetan border here (Lajyung La pass). In the past, this was a major trading hub.

Meals: Berakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Stay at: Local lodge. Walking:  Approximately 4 to 5 hours.

Now you are above 3,875m. you complete five days trek, you may looks tired and feel  weak. It is good time for rest and high - acclimatization before the push to Dharmasala and the Larkya La pass.

Day Hike: The hill Samdo Ri, behind the village try to reach approx. 4,200m – 4,500m. as you can, highly recommended to help your body adjust. Afternoon back to Samdo you lodge.

'Climb high - sleep Low' is one of the best natural treatment for high altitude sicknes. In Samdo, this isn't just a suggestion; it’s the golden rule for a successful crossing of the Larkya La pass. The wind in Samdo can be very biting in the late afternoon. Keep your windproof layers handy.

Meals: Berakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Stay at: Local lodge. Walking: As you can ascent.

Today you move to Dharmasala (4,460m), the highest sleeping point and spend night of the trek. Dharmasala (also known as Larkya Phedi) is short in distance but high in impact. You are moving into the "high camp" zone, where the focus shifts entirely from scenery to preparation for the pass.

The journey: After breakfast at Samdo an easy trail, Shortly after leaving Samdo, you’ll pass the remains of Larkya Bazaar, which was once a thriving seasonal market for trade between Nepal and Tibet. You’ll walk alongside the massive Larkya Glacier. The terrain becomes increasingly rugged and "lunar," with almost no vegetation. You cross a final stream before the steady zigzag climb that leads up to the settlement of Dharmasala.

Lodging: Dharmasala is not a village; it is a high-altitude base specifically built for trekkers crossing the pass. Accommodation here is the most "primitive" on the trek. while there are a few stone lodges (like Larkey Guest House or Peace Palace), they often fill up. Most trekkers stay in dormitory-style rooms or even sturdy permanent tents. Food is very simple (energy-focused Dal Bhat and soup).

Today you have to take early dinner by 6:00 PM and try to be in your sleeping bag, because out side is freezing and tomorrow morning 3:00 AM ascent to Larkya pass, which is your goal.

Meals: Berakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Stay at: Local lodge. Walking:  Approximately 4 to 5 hours.

Crossing the Larkya La Pass (5,106m) is the physical and emotional climax of the Manaslu Circuit. Today is your longest and most rewarding day.

Morning Ascent: Early morning  at 3:00 AM sip of hot drinks, pack your baggage, take enouch liquid and pack lunch. You can ascent with your guide and prters to Larkya La pass, don't forget to take your headlamps with extra battrey. The trail isn't overly steep, but it's a long, slow grind over moraines and frozen glacial lakes.

You will encounter several ridges that look like the top, only to see another one ahead. Patience is key here. At the top of pass, marked by a sea of colorful prayer flags. On a clear day, you can see the views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and the massive Annapurna II.

The ridge and descent: After the pass the ridge and descent to Bhimthang is often harder on the body than the climb. You will likely encounter snow and ice on the first section of the descent. Crampons or micro-spikes are highly recommended for safety. You drop over 1,500 meters in a single afternoon. This is where your trekking poles will save your knees. As you get closer to Bhimthang, you walk along the edge of the Bhimthang Glacier, with the spectacular west face of Manaslu looming above you.

Lodging: Bhimthang is one of the most beautiful settlements in Nepal, a wide, emerald-green meadow surrounded by soaring white peaks. After the "stone huts" of Dharmasala, the lodges here (like Ganga Jamuna or Hotel Himalayan Spirit) will feel like 5-star hotels. They are cleaner, warmer, and much more comfortable.

Most trekkers celebrate their successful pass crossing with a large meal. The vegetable curry and Dal Bhat here are excellent. Even from your bedroom window, the view of the "inverted" side of Manaslu (the West Face) is breathtaking, especially at sunset.

After such a long day, tomorrow is a beautiful "victory lap" through the rhododendron forests down to Tilije village.

Meals: Berakfast, pack Lunch and Dinner. Stay at: Local lodge. Walking:  Approximately 8 to 10 hours.

After the intense challenge of the Larkya La, your descent from Bhimthang to Tilije and finally Dharapani is a beautiful "victory lap." You move from the high glacial world back into the lush, colorful life of the lower valleys.

Morning Trek: After breakfast at such a beautiful place, descent from Bhimthang, you enter a dense forest of rhododendron, pine, and fir. In the spring (March/April), the rhododendrons bloom in vibrant reds and pinks. Stop for lunch at Dud Khola (Milk River) at middle of beautiful forest.

Day Trek: After lunch take a short rest, trek continue to Karche, where you see the first signs of terraced farming again. You can take a tea break and rest for few minutes as you need. Trek continue to Tiliji village for overnight stay.

Lodging: Tilije (alt. 2,300m.) is a large, culturally rich Gurung village. It is famous for its local apple brandy and its clean, stone-paved streets. The residents are incredibly welcoming, and the lodges here are very comfortable.

Farewell to the Team: This evening is the traditional time to say goodbye to your porters and guide. If you are satisfied with the service and the incredible effort of your team, it is customary to offer tips as a gesture of thanks for their hard work and dedication in helping you reach your goals.

You have successfully completed the Manaslu circuit 'Larkya pass' a truly world-class achievement!
