14 days Panch Pokhari Helambu:

Dear Trekkers,
Namaste!
A warm welcome to trekkers from every corner of the globe. We are delighted to invite you to explore the breath-taking trek to Panch Pokhari at Helambu region. Which is an untouched nature, and the serene mountain environment.

About panch pokhari trek: Panch Pokhari is one of the closest trekking destinations to Kathmandu, situated near the Jugal Himalayan range in Helambu Sindhupalchok. Please note that there are no tea houses or lodges on this route until Sermathang, making it a true camping trek. If you prefer quiet trails over crowded tourist hubs, this journey is for you!

Journey Highlights: Our trek begins at the end of the motor road in Maidan village (2,218m). The trail winds through lush rhododendron forests and along scenic ridges, offering stunning views of the valleys on both sides. The destination is Panch Pokhari, where you will discover five sacred lakes clustered together. Once a year, pilgrims from Helambu, Sindhupalchok, and beyond gather here for a vibrant festival.

We provide a full tented camping experience for the first eight nights. Upon reaching Sermathang village, we transition to local lodge accommodations so you can experience traditional mountain hospitality for two nights. The trek concludes at Tarke Gyang village, followed by a scenic drive back to Kathmandu.

Helambu experience: In my experience, Helambu stands apart from other mountain regions in Nepal. The local houses are exceptionally clean, well-decorated, and 'tiptop.' The people are cheerful, friendly, and show great mutual respect. Many Hyolmo homes have beautiful, hand-painted Buddhist altars (Chhosum) inside.

While their culture is Buddhist, the Hyolmo language is distinct, different from Everest Sherpa and more similar to the dialects of Langtang and Rasuwa. As a sacred Buddhist region, the local ethics strictly forbid the killing of any animals, wild or domestic. Instead, you can enjoy the bounty of the land, including incredibly fresh organic apples and other seasonal fruits.

This short trek is a perfect way to refresh your mind and live a stress-free life, leaving you with sweet, unforgettable memories to take back home.

Himalayan Views: Throughout the trek, you will enjoy breath-taking, close-up vistas of Gauri Shankar, the Jugal Himalayan range, Dorje Lhakpa, Phurbi Chyachu, and Gyalzen Peak. As the trail winds through the mountains, you will witness these giants from ever-changing angles, complemented by sweeping views of lush valleys and traditional villages.

Monasteries: Immerse yourself in the local culture with visits to the historic Buddhist monasteries in Sermathang and Tarke Gyang villages.

Note: See below for an overview of the 15-day, Phoksumdo Lake lower Dolpa  journey. For complete details on Kathmandu hotels, trekking routes, elevation, walking times, meals, and accommodations, refer to the "Day-by-Day Itinerary" at the bottom of this page.
